Since joining IBU’s product development team in April 2018, Sarah’s positive impact has been appreciated across every team and process at IBU. So it was with unanimous applause that we welcomed Sarah’s appointment as General Manager this year. For those of you who haven’t met her, or sat down for a good chat, let’s get to know Sarah!

I am the General Manager at Insured by Us
Where do you live?
Sydney, Australia
What do you like about your role at IBU?
I love the diversity of working on our incredible software platform, collaborating with clients and chatting to travellers on traveller support. We strive everyday to make insurance better for everyone. The biggest part of my role is taking care of everyone at IBU by giving them the structure and process to succeed.
Describe the best trip you’ve ever had?
I am very lucky – there have been some many trips that have been incredible. I particularly loved holidays in the Maldives, India, France and the US!

What destinations are on your bucket list and why?
Bagan (Myanmar) to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Iceland to experience the Northern Lights and the Galapagos Islands.
What are your top travel items you have to have when you travel?
Lavender oil, face spray, lip balm, cross over Marc Jacobs bag, a small medical kit so I don’t have the find a pharmacy when I travel – hopefully!
Why should people buy travel insurance?
Unexpected things do happen so it’s important that you cover yourself and your family. Medical cover is particularly important. Our travel cover has saved lives. I don’t want any Aussie traveller to ever be in the situation where they can’t access the best care and return hope safely to their family.
When you’re not at work what do you do for fun?
Hike, walk, snorkel, go to markets, spend time with my girls.
